The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 227% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Iraq (X units) was the main destination for lithium-ion accumulator exports from the United Arab Emirates, with a 22% share of total exports. Moreover, lithium-ion accumulator exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Jordan (X units), twofold. Egypt (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iraq totaled +107.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Jordan (+89.1% per year) and Egypt (+79.4% per year).
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X), China ($X) and Kuwait ($X) were the largest markets for lithium-ion accumulator exported from the United Arab Emirates worldwide, together accounting for 55% of total exports. Iraq, Egypt, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, Iran, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Iraq, with a CAGR of +72.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average lithium-ion accumulator export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates
In 2021, approx. X units of lithium-ion accumulators were imported into the United Arab Emirates; surging by 3.6% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 127% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lithium-ion accumulator imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest lithium-ion accumulator supplier to the United Arab Emirates, accounting for a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, lithium-ion accumulator imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Korea (X units), with a 2.4% share.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of lithium-ion accumulators to the United Arab Emirates, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 7.5% share of total imports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 3.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +22.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+11.7% per year) and South Korea (-9.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average lithium-ion accumulator import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible increase. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
