In 2022, overseas shipments of nonwoven fabrics decreased by -48.4% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 96% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, nonwoven fabric exports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Brazil (X tons) was the main destination for nonwoven fabric exports from the United Arab Emirates, with a 289% share of total exports. It was followed by Georgia (X tons), with a 5.8% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Brazil stood at +9,258.5%.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for nonwoven fabrics exports from the United Arab Emirates, comprising 236% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Georgia ($X), with a 9.5% share of total exports.

In general, total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 48%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.
