The United States (X tons) was the main destination for perfume exports from the United Arab Emirates, accounting for a 33% share of total exports. Moreover, perfume exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Morocco (X tons), with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States stood at +25.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the UK (+7.6% per year) and Morocco (+11.0% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for perfumes and toilet waters exports from the United Arab Emirates, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 9.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States amounted to +34.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+32.6% per year) and Israel (+110.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average perfume export price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -4.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 21%. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+15.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates
In 2022, approx. X tons of perfumes and toilet waters were imported into the United Arab Emirates; which is down by -13.1% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, perfume imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.8% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

France (X tons), India (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of perfume imports to the United Arab Emirates, together accounting for 36% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +5.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of perfumes and toilet waters to the United Arab Emirates, comprising 23% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 8.3% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 5.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from France totaled +1.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+4.5% per year) and the United States (-5.6% per year).

The average perfume import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -4.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 17% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
