The copper sanitary ware market in the United Arab Emirates soared to $X in 2021, surging by 18% against the previous year. In 2021, shipments abroad of sanitary ware and parts of copper was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 174% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, copper sanitary ware exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 116%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Oman (X tons), Rwanda (X tons) and Tanzania (X tons) were the main destinations of copper sanitary ware exports from the United Arab Emirates, together comprising 74% of total exports. Burkina Faso, India, Burundi, Mozambique and Zambia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Burundi (with a CAGR of +67.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Oman ($X) remains the key foreign market for sanitary ware and parts of copper exports from the United Arab Emirates, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by Rwanda, with a 3.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Oman stood at +4.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: India (+12.7% per year) and Rwanda (+8.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average copper sanitary ware export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 16% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, copper sanitary ware export price increased by +113.8% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 48% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates
In 2021, overseas purchases of sanitary ware and parts of copper increased by 2.1% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after five years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, copper sanitary ware imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a pronounced decrease. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), India (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of copper sanitary ware imports to the United Arab Emirates, with a combined 87% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the UK, Pakistan and Spain, which together accounted for a further 2.3%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the UK (with a CAGR of +16.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, China ($X), India ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest copper sanitary ware suppliers to the United Arab Emirates, with a combined 68% share of total imports. The UK, Spain and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 3.9%.
The UK, with a CAGR of +15.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
The average copper sanitary ware import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 40% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
