Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 39,744%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 30,985%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

France (X tons) was the main destination for unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports from the United Arab Emirates, accounting for a 54% share of total exports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X tons), fourfold. Belgium (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.7% share.

Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 298% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, South Africa (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons to the United Arab Emirates, accounting for a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports from South Africa exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Iran (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from South Africa stood at +38.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Iran (-17.9% per year) and Belgium (+39.0% per year).

In value terms, South Africa ($X) constituted the largest supplier of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons to the United Arab Emirates, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 1.6% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from South Africa totaled +30.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+30.4% per year) and Iran (-27.1% per year).

The average unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted a mild increase.
