Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 660% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X litres in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water exports shrank dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 485% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Oman (X litres), Kuwait (X litres) and Niger (X litres) were the main destinations of non-mineral or non-aerated water exports from the United Arab Emirates, together comprising 91% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Niger (with a CAGR of +267.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, imports, however, saw noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 48%. Imports peaked at X litres in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports amounted to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Turkey (X litres) constituted the largest non-mineral or non-aerated water supplier to the United Arab Emirates, with a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, non-mineral or non-aerated water imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Norway (X litres), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Oman (X litres), with a 2.3% share.

Among the main suppliers, Oman, with a CAGR of +53.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The import price peaked at $X per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per litre), while the price for Oman ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
