Imports into the UK
Acetic acid imports into the UK contracted modestly to X tons in 2021, flattening at the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, acetic acid imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 76%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Norway (X tons) were the main suppliers of acetic acid imports to the UK, with a combined 69% share of total imports. Germany, Sweden, Poland and Ireland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 25%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +172.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, acetic acid import price increased by +71.2% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 30%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
