Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 71% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, calcium carbonate imports reduced markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a noticeable setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 31%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Norway (X tons) constituted the largest calcium carbonate supplier to the UK, accounting for a 48% share of total imports. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
