France, China, Germany, Australia, Sweden, Spain and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 9.5%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +22.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Ireland ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the largest markets for ceramic tile exported from the UK worldwide, together comprising 33% of total exports.
Among the main countries of destination, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +12.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average ceramic tile export price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 11%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+24.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ceramic tile imports into the UK skyrocketed to X square meters in 2022, increasing by 68% compared with 2021. In general, imports saw a prominent increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ceramic tile imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Spain (X square meters) constituted the largest ceramic tile supplier to the UK, with a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, ceramic tile imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X square meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X square meters), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Spain stood at +14.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+5.6% per year) and Turkey (+6.3% per year).
In value terms, Spain ($X), Italy ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the largest ceramic tile suppliers to the UK, together comprising 79% of total imports. These countries were followed by India, Germany, Bulgaria, China and France, which together accounted for a further 13%.
India, with a CAGR of +33.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average ceramic tile import price stood at $X per square meter in 2022, with a decrease of -1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 7.7% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per square meter, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per square meter), while the price for France ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
