Hungary (X tons) was the main destination for aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives exports from the UK, accounting for a 26% share of total exports. In 2021, purchases abroad of halogenated derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons decreased by -9.4% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after three years of growth. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
