Ghana (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic household articles exports from the UK, together comprising 43% of total exports. Gambia, Nigeria, Germany, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, the Netherlands, China, France, the United Arab Emirates and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

France, Germany, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Gambia, Bangladesh, China, Sierra Leone and Cote d'Ivoire lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +88.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average plastic household articles export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 2.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 20% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Gambia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of household articles and toilet articles of plastics, when their volume decreased by -5.7% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, plastic household articles imports shrank to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 14%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plastic household articles to the UK, accounting for a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, plastic household articles imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), fivefold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.1% share.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
