Imines Market Size in the UK

The UK imines market shrank sharply to $X in 2021, declining by -27.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption decreased by -34.4% against 2019 indices. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Overall, the total production indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +90.4% against 2016 indices. Exports from the UK

In 2021, shipments abroad of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof decreased by -49.9% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, imines exports fell markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a slight expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 629% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for imines exports from the UK, with a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, imines exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Poland (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X tons), with an 8.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Netherlands stood at +23.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+4.1% per year) and the United States (+15.8% per year).

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), the United States ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for imines exported from the UK worldwide, together comprising 41% of total exports. These countries were followed by Ireland, Poland, France, Saudi Arabia, China, the Czech Republic, Singapore, Turkey, Sweden and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 41%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Singapore, with a CAGR of +69.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average imines export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 59% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 418% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the UK

In 2021, supplies from abroad of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof decreased by -49.6% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after eight years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imines imports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -16.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 33%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of imines imports to the UK, together comprising 80% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +42.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest imines suppliers to the UK were China ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined 78% share of total imports.

The average imines import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a mild slump. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
