The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons) was the main destination for industrial fatty alcohols exports from the UK, with a 25% share of total exports. Moreover, industrial fatty alcohols exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), twofold. Spain (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.5% share.

In 2021, imports of industrial fatty alcohols into the UK reduced to X tons, waning by -11% compared with 2020. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -16.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 36%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, industrial fatty alcohols imports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of industrial fatty alcohols imports to the UK, with a combined 93% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, which accounted for a further 5.4%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +55.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest industrial fatty alcohols suppliers to the UK were Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 93% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, which accounted for a further 4.6%.
In terms of the main suppliers, Belgium, with a CAGR of +49.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average industrial fatty alcohols import price amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 17%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($X per ton) and the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
