In 2022, the average lentil export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 11%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iceland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Africa ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, purchases abroad of lentils decreased by -1.2% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -32.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lentil imports totaled $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 56% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In 2022, Canada (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of lentil to the UK, with a 54% share of total imports. Moreover, lentil imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), twofold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Canada totaled +2.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (-1.5% per year) and India (+20.9% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($X) constituted the largest supplier of lentils to the UK, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 17% share.
