The Netherlands (X units) was the main destination for lift, elevator, stairway and dragline exports from the UK, accounting for a 23% share of total exports. Moreover, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ireland (X units), twofold. The United States (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the Netherlands stood at +11.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ireland (+10.9% per year) and the United States (-6.5% per year).
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines exports from the UK, comprising 26% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ireland ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Netherlands stood at +7.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ireland (+8.0% per year) and the United States (-8.3% per year).

For the third consecutive year, the UK recorded growth in supplies from abroad of lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines, which increased by 9.4% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 27%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Germany (X units), China (X units) and Spain (X units) were the main suppliers of lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports to the UK, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, Greece, the United States, Finland and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Greece (with a CAGR of +28.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest lift, elevator, stairway and dragline suppliers to the UK were Germany ($X), China ($X) and Spain ($X), together comprising 61% of total imports. In general, the import price, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for Greece ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
