Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lithium-ion accumulator exports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 51%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
Exports by Country
Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of lithium-ion accumulator exports from the UK, with a combined 50% share of total exports. The United States, Poland, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Romania, the Czech Republic, Italy and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +59.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for lithium-ion accumulator exported from the UK were the United States ($X), Spain ($X) and Germany ($X), together comprising 47% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Ireland, France, Poland, Romania, Italy, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 32%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Romania, with a CAGR of +58.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average lithium-ion accumulator export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 31% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+23.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the UK
In 2021, lithium-ion accumulator imports into the UK expanded markedly to X units, surging by 11% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 80%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lithium-ion accumulator imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 51%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of lithium-ion accumulator to the UK, accounting for a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, lithium-ion accumulator imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), sevenfold. Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.4% share.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +52.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average lithium-ion accumulator import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 33% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 51%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
