These countries were followed by Costa Rica, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, Sweden, Spain, Yemen and Hong Kong SAR, which together accounted for a further 40%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by New Zealand (with a CAGR of +57.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the UK
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of maltodextrine and maltodextine syrup decreased by -20.3% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
In value terms, maltodextrine imports shrank to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
France (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main suppliers of maltodextrine imports to the UK, with a combined 56% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Ireland, Slovakia, Spain, Poland, Germany, China, Israel, Indonesia and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.

The average maltodextrine import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 19%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
