Over the period under review, exports, however, saw perceptible growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 86% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 41%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X units), Saudi Arabia (X units) and Gambia (X units) were the main destinations of non-electric industrial furnace exports from the UK, together accounting for 26% of total exports. These countries were followed by Cote d'Ivoire, Greece, the United States, Iraq, Djibouti, France, Hungary, the Netherlands, Australia and Romania, which together accounted for a further 33%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +86.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for non-electric industrial furnace exported from the UK were Saudi Arabia ($X), the United States ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X), together comprising 22% of total exports. Gambia, Greece, Germany, Djibouti, Iraq, the Netherlands, Australia, France, Romania and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
Greece, with a CAGR of +80.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average non-electric industrial furnace export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 21% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the UK
For the third year in a row, the UK recorded growth in overseas purchases of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens, which increased by 227% to X units in 2022. In general, imports recorded a resilient increase. Imports peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a perceptible increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Italy (X units), Spain (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of non-electric industrial furnace imports to the UK, with a combined 69% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Germany, the Czech Republic, Croatia and the United States, which together accounted for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +42.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens to the UK, comprising 31% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Italy totaled +13.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-0.8% per year) and the Czech Republic (+57.2% per year).

In 2022, the average non-electric industrial furnace import price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -9.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average import price increased by 114%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
