The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 64%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main destinations of pyrethrum and peppermint exports from the UK, with a combined 48% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, Germany, France, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Belgium, Poland, India, Trinidad and Tobago and Sweden, which together accounted for a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +47.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for pyrethrum and peppermint exported from the UK were the Netherlands ($X), the United States ($X) and Canada ($X), together comprising 42% of total exports. Ireland, Belgium, Germany, France, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Australia, Sweden and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +48.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average pyrethrum and peppermint export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -22.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 23%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of pyrethrum and peppermint, when their volume increased by 6.6% to X tons. In general, imports recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, pyrethrum and peppermint imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of pyrethrum and peppermint imports to the UK, with a combined 43% share of total imports. Kenya, China, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, Nigeria, Pakistan, Chile, Italy and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Nigeria (with a CAGR of +87.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Spain ($X) and India ($X) were the largest pyrethrum and peppermint suppliers to the UK, with a combined 46% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Kenya, China, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt, the Netherlands, Italy, Pakistan, Chile and Nigeria, which together accounted for a further 29%.
Nigeria, with a CAGR of +70.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average pyrethrum and peppermint import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 27%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kenya ($X per ton), while the price for Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
