The average semiconductor device export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 31% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports into the UK
In 2021, semiconductor device imports into the UK declined markedly to X units, falling by -27.5% against 2020. Overall, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 212% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, semiconductor device imports shrank to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 70%. China (X units), Germany (X units) and Hong Kong SAR (X units) were the main suppliers of semiconductor device imports to the UK, with a combined 85% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Thailand, the Philippines and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 8.2%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +47.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
