The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 136% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Lithuania (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) were the main destinations of aluminium bar exports from Uzbekistan, with a combined 68% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Russia, Canada and Tajikistan, which together accounted for a further 11%.

From 2017 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +273.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, export price indicated prominent growth from 2017 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the last four years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+22.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Uzbekistan

In 2021, overseas purchases of aluminium bars, rods and profiles decreased by -24.1% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 148%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium bar imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 123% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Tajikistan (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of aluminium bar imports to Uzbekistan, with a combined 81% share of total imports.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +298.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Turkey ($X), Tajikistan ($X) and China ($X) appeared to be the largest aluminium bar suppliers to Uzbekistan, with a combined 73% share of total imports.
