Overall, total imports indicated strong growth from 2017 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.6% over the last four-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +91.5% against 2017 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest bleached sulphate pulp supplier to Uzbekistan, with a 57% share of total imports. Moreover, bleached sulphate pulp imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belarus (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by China (X tons), with a 6.1% share.

The average bleached sulphate pulp import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 32% against the previous year. Over the last four years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the countries with the highest prices were Finland ($X per ton) and the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Austria ($X per ton) and Russia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+32.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
