Cement Market Size in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek cement market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after three years of decline. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. Exports from Uzbekistan

In 2022, approx. X tons of cement were exported from Uzbekistan; rising by 47% on 2021 figures. In general, exports showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 6,220% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cement exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 5,147% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

China (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of cement exports from Uzbekistan, together accounting for 91% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +197.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for cement exported from Uzbekistan were China ($X), Singapore ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 89% share of total exports.

China, with a CAGR of +193.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average cement export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -24.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 38%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+107.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Cement Imports

Imports into Uzbekistan

In 2022, supplies from abroad of cement increased by 35% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 563% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cement imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 678% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Tajikistan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) were the main suppliers of cement imports to Uzbekistan, together comprising 98% of total imports.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +45.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Tajikistan ($X), Kyrgyzstan ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) constituted the largest cement suppliers to Uzbekistan, with a combined 97% share of total imports.

Kyrgyzstan, with a CAGR of +46.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average cement import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -46.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 48%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell markedly in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while the price for Tajikistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
