In 2022, the Uzbek dry vegetable market decreased by -2.5% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, enjoyed prominent growth. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Exports from Uzbekistan
In 2022, shipments abroad of dry vegetables decreased by -0.1% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 543%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, dry vegetable exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 89%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of dry vegetable exports from Uzbekistan, with a combined 83% share of total exports.
From 2017 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +24.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest markets for dry vegetable exported from Uzbekistan worldwide, with a combined 91% share of total exports.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Germany, with a CAGR of +25.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average dry vegetable export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 192%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Uzbekistan
For the fourth consecutive year, Uzbekistan recorded growth in overseas purchases of dry vegetables, which increased by 14% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 179%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
In value terms, dry vegetable imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 189%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest dry vegetable supplier to Uzbekistan, with a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, dry vegetable imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), fourfold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.6% share.
From 2017 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States totaled +32.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+20.3% per year) and France (+34.3% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dry vegetables to Uzbekistan, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 7.5% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 4.8% share.
From 2017 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States stood at +20.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+19.2% per year) and China (+30.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average dry vegetable import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+48.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
