In 2021, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in the Uzbek diagnostic equipment market, when its value decreased by -6.5% to $X. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed prominent growth. In 2021, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus, when their volume decreased by -16.2% to X units. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 421%. The exports peaked at X units in 2020, and then declined markedly in the following year.

In value terms, diagnostic equipment exports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 798%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

India (X units) was the main destination for diagnostic equipment exports from Uzbekistan, with a 79% share of total exports. Moreover, diagnostic equipment exports to India exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X units), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to India was relatively modest.

In value terms, India ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports.

In 2021, the average diagnostic equipment export price amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 3.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a precipitous setback. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Russia amounted to $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Afghanistan (+37.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Uzbekistan

In 2021, overseas purchases of electro-diagnostic apparatus, and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus decreased by -68.6% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 158%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, diagnostic equipment imports shrank notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2020, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

China (X units), Lithuania (X units) and France (X units) were the main suppliers of diagnostic equipment imports to Uzbekistan.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lithuania (with a CAGR of +124.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Lithuania ($X), China ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X) appeared to be the largest diagnostic equipment suppliers to Uzbekistan, together accounting for 66% of total imports.
