In value terms, leather footwear exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 327% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) were the main destinations of leather footwear exports from Uzbekistan, together comprising 95% of total exports.

From 2017 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +149.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for leather footwear exported from Uzbekistan were Tajikistan ($X), Russia ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a combined 86% share of total exports.

In 2021, the average leather footwear export price amounted to $X per kg, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +10.1%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per kg), while the average price for exports to Mongolia ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+186.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Uzbekistan

In 2021, overseas purchases of leather footwear decreased by -7.4% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 112%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, leather footwear imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 85%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

China (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of leather footwear imports to Uzbekistan, with a combined 61% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Russia, Germany, Denmark and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Russia (with a CAGR of +61.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average leather footwear import price stood at $X per kg in 2021, picking up by 27% against the previous year. Over the last four years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per kg), while the price for Turkey ($X per kg) was amongst the lowest.
