The Uzbek mixed fertilizer market expanded notably to $X in 2022, surging by 11% against the previous year. In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of mixed fertilizers, when their volume decreased by -12.1% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mixed fertilizer exports declined to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed temperate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 193%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Turkmenistan (X tons), Afghanistan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) were the main destinations of mixed fertilizer exports from Uzbekistan, together comprising 89% of total exports.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Afghanistan (with a CAGR of +42.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Afghanistan ($X), Turkmenistan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) were the largest markets for mixed fertilizer exported from Uzbekistan worldwide, together comprising 88% of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 11,941%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mixed fertilizer imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 12,441%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Kazakhstan (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of mixed fertilizer to Uzbekistan, with a 88% share of total imports. Moreover, mixed fertilizer imports from Kazakhstan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tons), ninefold.
