The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 283% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, paddy rice exports contracted modestly to $X in 2021. In general, exports faced a precipitous shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 276% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan (X kg) was the main destination for paddy rice exports from Uzbekistan, accounting for a 99% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan (X kg), with a 1.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Kazakhstan was relatively modest.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for paddy rice exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 2.3% share of total exports.

In 2021, the average paddy rice export price amounted to $X per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a slight descent. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kyrgyzstan (+4.8%).

Imports into Uzbekistan
Paddy rice imports into Uzbekistan shrank to X tons in 2021, with a decrease of -11.5% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 307%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, paddy rice imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 141% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of paddy rice to Uzbekistan, with a 84% share of total imports. Moreover, paddy rice imports from Kazakhstan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), sixfold.
From 2018 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Kazakhstan stood at +27.8%.
In value terms, China ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) constituted the largest paddy rice suppliers to Uzbekistan.
