In 2021, purchases abroad of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip decreased by -17.3% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 83,253% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, imports of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 207,551%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of plastic plate, sheet, film, foil and strip to Uzbekistan, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Russia (X tons), fivefold. Turkey (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +116.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+32.0% per year) and Turkey (+5.3% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip to Uzbekistan, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China stood at +102.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+33.9% per year) and Turkey (+8.1% per year).

The average import price for plastic plates, sheets, film, foil and strip stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 33% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 149%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
