For the fifth year in a row, the Uzbek printers and copying machines market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 8% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption recorded a resilient increase. Printers and copying machines consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of printers, copying machines and facsimile machines decreased by -36.4% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a dramatic descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 350%. The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, printers and copying machines exports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a precipitous slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 297% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Germany (X units), Ukraine (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) were the main destinations of printers and copying machines exports from Uzbekistan. Moreover, printers and copying machines exports in Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest exporter, Ukraine, twofold.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Ukraine (with a CAGR of +9.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for printers, copying machines and facsimile machines exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ukraine ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 2.1% share.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 67%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Uzbekistan

In 2021, purchases abroad of printers, copying machines and facsimile machines was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 367%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, printers and copying machines imports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 182%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Lithuania (X units), China (X units) and Russia (X units) were the main suppliers of printers and copying machines imports to Uzbekistan, together comprising 64% of total imports. These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 29%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +319.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Lithuania ($X), China ($X) and Russia ($X) appeared to be the largest printers and copying machines suppliers to Uzbekistan, with a combined 62% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

The average printers and copying machines import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -8.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 56% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then contracted in the following year.
