Salt imports into Uzbekistan surged to X tons in 2022, picking up by 182% on the previous year. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of salt and pure sodium chloride to Uzbekistan, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 9.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with an 8.6% share.
From 2017 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +49.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Russia (+8.5% per year) and Turkey (+37.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average salt import price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -22.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 76% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
