Tajikistan (X tons) was the main destination for mineral wool exports from Uzbekistan, accounting for a 85% share of total exports. Moreover, mineral wool exports to Tajikistan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kyrgyzstan (X tons), sixfold.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Tajikistan amounted to -57.8%.

In value terms, Tajikistan ($X) remains the key foreign market for slag wool, rock wool and similar mineral wools and mixtures exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 19% share of total exports.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Tajikistan totaled -56.9%.

The average mineral wool export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 23% against the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan totaled $X per ton.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kyrgyzstan (+14.8%).

In 2021, supplies from abroad of slag wool, rock wool and similar mineral wools and mixtures decreased by less than 0.1% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 297%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, mineral wool imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 286%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest mineral wool supplier to Uzbekistan, accounting for a 83% share of total imports. Moreover, mineral wool imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), sevenfold.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia stood at +126.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+585.6% per year) and China (-13.3% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of slag wool, rock wool and similar mineral wools and mixtures to Uzbekistan, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 15% share of total imports.
