Strawberry Market Size in Uzbekistan

In 2021, the Uzbek strawberry market increased by 15% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw strong growth. In 2021, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of strawberries, when their volume decreased by -25.9% to X tons. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 1,320%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, strawberry exports declined to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 1,562%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports by Country

Kyrgyzstan (X tons) was the main destination for strawberry exports from Uzbekistan, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, strawberry exports to Kyrgyzstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), fivefold.

From 2013 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kyrgyzstan totaled +47.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-8.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (+46.5% per year).

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for strawberries exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 13% share of total exports.

From 2013 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (-3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
