Technical Textiles Market Size in Uzbekistan
After two years of growth, the Uzbek technical textiles market decreased by -5.7% to $X in 2021. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production increased by +57.5% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 53%. Exports from Uzbekistan
In 2021, the amount of textile products and articles for technical uses exported from Uzbekistan declined sharply to X tons, reducing by -53.9% on the year before. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 50%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, technical textiles exports shrank notably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 130%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Ukraine (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) were the main destinations of technical textiles exports from Uzbekistan, with a combined 80% share of total exports. Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +254.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for textile products and articles for technical uses exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Ukraine, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Turkey was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+175.9% per year) and Ukraine (-34.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average technical textiles export price amounted to $X per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 373% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tajikistan (+19.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Technical Textiles Imports
Imports into Uzbekistan
After four years of growth, overseas purchases of textile products and articles for technical uses decreased by -23.9% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2017 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last four-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, technical textiles imports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 59%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of technical textiles to Uzbekistan, with a 72% share of total imports. Moreover, technical textiles imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Russia (X tons), with an 8.5% share.
From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +28.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+6.5% per year) and Russia (-21.3% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of textile products and articles for technical uses to Uzbekistan, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Russia, with an 11% share.
From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +46.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+3.8% per year) and Russia (-8.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average technical textiles import price amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the last four-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 23%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+41.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
