From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wood tool exports shrank to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 181% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Kyrgyzstan (X tons) was the main destination for wood tool exports from Uzbekistan, with a 93% share of total exports. Moreover, wood tool exports to Kyrgyzstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tajikistan (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kyrgyzstan stood at +4.9%.

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for tools of wood exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 97% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tajikistan ($X), with a 2.6% share of total exports.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Kyrgyzstan amounted to +25.8%.

The average wood tool export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -15.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 86% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2020, and then plummeted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan stood at $X per ton.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tajikistan (+40.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Uzbekistan

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of tools of wood, when their volume decreased by -63.2% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 633% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then declined notably in the following year.

In value terms, wood tool imports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 524%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest wood tool supplier to Uzbekistan, accounting for a 85% share of total imports. Moreover, wood tool imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Turkey (X tons), with a 1.7% share.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Russia totaled +124.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+29.0% per year) and Turkey (+29.3% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X), China ($X) and Ukraine ($X) constituted the largest wood tool suppliers to Uzbekistan, together accounting for 91% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Ukraine, with a CAGR of +454.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wood tool import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 185% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight slump. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
