Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a precipitous slump. The exports peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-propelled vehicle exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Kyrgyzstan (X units) was the main destination for non-propelled vehicle exports from Uzbekistan, accounting for a 93% share of total exports. It was followed by Tajikistan (X units), with a 2.8% share of total exports. Azerbaijan (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.8% share.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kyrgyzstan amounted to -26.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tajikistan (-55.6% per year) and Azerbaijan (0.0% per year).

In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-propelled vehicle exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 23% share of total exports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 6.8% share.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Kyrgyzstan stood at -46.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Azerbaijan (0.0% per year) and Tajikistan (-53.4% per year).

In 2021, the average non-propelled vehicle export price amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 105% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a precipitous decline. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+1,560.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, Uzbekistan recorded growth in overseas purchases of vehicles not mechanically propelled, which increased by 90% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 90%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, non-propelled vehicle imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a resilient expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Turkey (X units) constituted the largest non-propelled vehicle supplier to Uzbekistan, with a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, non-propelled vehicle imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X units), with a 13% share.

From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Turkey totaled +40.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+39.0% per year) and Russia (+140.5% per year).
