In 2022, after two years of decline, there was decline in shipments abroad of heat exchange units, when their volume decreased by -1.2% to X units. In general, exports, however, recorded strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 643%. The exports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, heat exchange unit exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 530%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for heat exchange unit exports from Venezuela, with a 76% share of total exports. Moreover, heat exchange unit exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X units), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Dominican Republic (X units), with a 7.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany amounted to +45.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-4.2% per year) and the Dominican Republic (+1.7% per year).

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States stood at +7.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Dominican Republic (+12.3% per year) and Germany (+8.9% per year).

In 2022, supplies from abroad of heat exchange units increased by 21% to X units for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a dramatic contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 119% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, heat exchange unit imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a precipitous shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 50%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Ecuador (X units) constituted the largest supplier of heat exchange unit to Venezuela, accounting for a 33% share of total imports. Moreover, heat exchange unit imports from Ecuador exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X units), with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Ecuador amounted to +4.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (-4.8% per year) and India (+7.7% per year).

In value terms, Ecuador ($X), India ($X) and South Korea ($X) were the largest heat exchange unit suppliers to Venezuela, with a combined 67% share of total imports.

India, with a CAGR of +18.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

The average heat exchange unit import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -13.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 41% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
