In 2022, overseas shipments of rare gases (excluding argon) decreased by -5.8% to X cubic meters for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 145%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, rare gases exports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 175% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Aruba (X cubic meters) was the main destination for rare gases exports from Venezuela, with a approx. 100% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Aruba totaled +24.9%.

In value terms, Aruba ($X) also remains the key foreign market for rare gases (excluding argon) exports from Venezuela.

In 2022, approx. X cubic meters of rare gases (excluding argon) were imported into Venezuela; dropping by -17.6% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a precipitous shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 96%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X cubic meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, rare gases imports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the United States (X cubic meters) was the main rare gases supplier to Venezuela, with a 96% share of total imports. It was followed by China (X cubic meters), with a 2.1% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States stood at -26.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-10.0% per year) and Trinidad and Tobago (-39.6% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of rare gases (excluding argon) to Venezuela, comprising 93% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Trinidad and Tobago ($X), with a 3.7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United States stood at -15.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Trinidad and Tobago (+1.4% per year) and China (+1.3% per year).

In 2022, the average rare gases import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, declining by -1.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 71% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per cubic meter in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Trinidad and Tobago ($X per cubic meter), while the price for China ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Trinidad and Tobago (+67.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
