In value terms, glass fiber exports expanded notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 499%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Colombia (X tons) was the main destination for glass fiber exports from Venezuela, accounting for a 96% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fiber exports to Colombia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Colombia stood at +13.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-8.8% per year) and Panama (-43.0% per year).
In value terms, Colombia ($X) remains the key foreign market for voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers exports from Venezuela, comprising 98% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Panama ($X), with a 0.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Colombia amounted to +26.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Panama (-31.6% per year) and the United States (-20.4% per year).

The average glass fiber export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 3.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 235%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Panama ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Venezuela
For the seventh year in a row, Venezuela recorded decline in overseas purchases of voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers, which decreased by -19.5% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a dramatic slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 69%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, glass fiber imports rose notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a dramatic setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 34%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), China (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fiber imports to Venezuela, together accounting for 77% of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Brazil, Canada and Colombia, which together accounted for a further 20%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Canada (with a CAGR of +25.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest glass fiber suppliers to Venezuela were Turkey ($X), China ($X) and Mexico ($X), together accounting for 63% of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Turkey, with a CAGR of +27.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the average glass fiber import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($X per ton), while the price for Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
