Overall, exports, however, saw moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, meat and poultry exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Hong Kong SAR (X tons), China (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the main destinations of meat and poultry exports from Vietnam, with a combined X% share of total exports. Japan, Taiwan (Chinese), Macao SAR, Pakistan, the United States, South Korea, France, Belgium and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of meat and poultry increased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
