The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 137%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for articles of zinc exports from Vietnam, accounting for a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, articles of zinc exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by China (X tons), with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States totaled +31.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+46.0% per year) and China (+43.9% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for articles of zinc exports from Vietnam, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to the United States stood at +36.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (+51.8% per year) and China (+50.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average articles of zinc export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -7.4% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, articles of zinc export price increased by +49.9% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Imports into Vietnam

For the fourth consecutive year, Vietnam recorded growth in supplies from abroad of articles of zinc, which increased by 4.9% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 88%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, articles of zinc imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 147%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest articles of zinc supplier to Vietnam, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, articles of zinc imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Singapore (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Japan (X tons), with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +40.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+49.2% per year) and Japan (-0.8% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of articles of zinc to Vietnam, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 5.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Japan, with a 4.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +47.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+57.5% per year) and Japan (+4.7% per year).

The average articles of zinc import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 2.9% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 32% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
