The United States (X units) was the main destination for baby garment exports from Vietnam, accounting for a 75% share of total exports. Moreover, baby garment exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, South Korea (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Canada (X units), with a 3.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +15.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+30.9% per year) and Canada (+19.3% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted) exports from Vietnam, comprising 71% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 5% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 4.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States stood at +16.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+29.9% per year) and Canada (+19.2% per year).

In 2022, the average baby garment export price amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -5.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports saw a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 89%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, baby garment imports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 104% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Myanmar (X units) was the main supplier of baby garment to Vietnam, accounting for a approx. 100% share of total imports.

From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Myanmar.
