Borates Market Size in Vietnam

After two years of growth, the Vietnamese borates market decreased by -56.4% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Cambodia (X tons), India (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) were the main destinations of borates exports from Vietnam, together accounting for 80% of total exports. Lao People's Democratic Republic and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of borates, when their volume decreased by -57.4% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 45%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then shrank markedly in the following year.

In value terms, borates imports fell dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Turkey (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Peru (X tons) were the main suppliers of borates imports to Vietnam, with a combined 82% share of total imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while the price for Bolivia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
