Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X units) was the main destination for brassiere exports from Vietnam, with a 48% share of total exports. Moreover, brassiere exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X units), eightfold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at +33.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+2.7% per year) and China (+52.4% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated exports from Vietnam, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 7.4% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States stood at +37.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (+0.4% per year) and China (+37.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average brassiere export price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -8.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 6.3%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Vietnam
For the third year in a row, Vietnam recorded growth in overseas purchases of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated, which increased by 31% to X units in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 1,129%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, brassiere imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 837% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of brassiere to Vietnam, accounting for a 80% share of total imports. Moreover, brassiere imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Indonesia (X units), with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China stood at +9.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (-19.5% per year) and Indonesia (+12.5% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated to Vietnam, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a 6.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +13.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (-16.7% per year) and Indonesia (+16.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average brassiere import price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 3.1% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, brassiere import price increased by +15.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 82%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Indonesia ($X per unit) and Thailand ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) and South Korea ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
