Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, brewing dregs exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Cambodia (X tons) was the main destination for brewing dregs exports from Vietnam, accounting for a 72% share of total exports. Moreover, brewing dregs exports to Cambodia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons), with a 4.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Cambodia amounted to +7.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-16.5% per year) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (+10.1% per year).

In value terms, Cambodia ($X) remains the key foreign market for brewing or distilling dregs and waste exports from Vietnam, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 4.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Cambodia totaled +13.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-12.0% per year) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (+14.1% per year).

The average brewing dregs export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -2.6% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. In 2022, approx. X tons of brewing or distilling dregs and waste were imported into Vietnam; which is down by -12.3% against the previous year. In general, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 101% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, brewing dregs imports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then fell notably in the following year.
