In 2021, the Vietnamese other cereals market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 2,019%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, other cereals exports rose notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 1,982%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Vietnam, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Australia (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States stood at -3.6%.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Vietnam, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 23% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average other cereals export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Vietnam
In 2021, supplies from abroad of other cerealses increased by 171% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 7,736%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, other cereals imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 3,933%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Australia (X tons), China (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main suppliers of other cereals imports to Vietnam, with a combined 89% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Australia (with a CAGR of +387.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Australia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to Vietnam, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Australia amounted to +281.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+13.7% per year) and Thailand (+172.1% per year).

The average other cereals import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 78% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
