China (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the main destinations of cheese and curd exports from Vietnam, with a combined 76% share of total exports.

Imports into Vietnam
In 2022, the amount of cheese and curd imported into Vietnam expanded slightly to X tons, with an increase of 2.9% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, cheese and curd imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 96%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

New Zealand (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of cheese and curd imports to Vietnam, with a combined 49% share of total imports. Uruguay, Ireland, the United States, Poland, Argentina, Australia, the Netherlands, Egypt, the UK and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Ireland (with a CAGR of +77.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest cheese and curd suppliers to Vietnam were New Zealand ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 49% share of total imports. Ireland, the United States, Uruguay, Japan, the Netherlands, Argentina, Poland, Australia, Egypt and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
Ireland, with a CAGR of +69.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average cheese and curd import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -3.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Uruguay ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
