Singapore (X tons), Cambodia (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main destinations of chili and pepper exports from Vietnam, with a combined 72% share of total exports.

As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Thailand ($X per ton) and the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($X per ton) and Singapore ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cambodia (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Vietnam

In 2022, approx. X tons of chilies and peppers (green) were imported into Vietnam; picking up by 15% against the year before. Overall, imports saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 1,135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, chili and pepper imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 1,156% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
