The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 492% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, desktop computer exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 803%. Exports by Country

Malaysia (X units) was the main destination for desktop computer exports from Vietnam, accounting for a 86% share of total exports. Moreover, desktop computer exports to Malaysia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Colombia (X units), more than tenfold. The United States (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Malaysia totaled +70.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (+17.1% per year) and the United States (+9.2% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for desktop computers exports from Vietnam, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 1.3% share of total exports. It was followed by Brazil, with a 0.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States totaled +340.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (+9.4% per year) and Brazil (-10.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average desktop computer export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 111% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+304.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of desktop computers decreased by -36.3% to X units, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 429% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, desktop computer imports rose notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 149%. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Malaysia (X units) constituted the largest desktop computer supplier to Vietnam, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, desktop computer imports from Malaysia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Singapore (X units), threefold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Malaysia amounted to +13.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Singapore (+25.8% per year) and China (+45.7% per year).

In value terms, Malaysia ($X), China ($X) and Singapore ($X) appeared to be the largest desktop computer suppliers to Vietnam, with a combined 70% share of total imports.

Malaysia, with a CAGR of +16.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average desktop computer import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 74% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 116% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the price for Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+58.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
