Market Size for Duck and Goose Meat in Vietnam
The Vietnamese duck and goose meat market amounted to $X in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -2.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 36%. Duck and goose meat production peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.
In 2022, the average yield of duck and goose meat in Vietnam contracted to X kg per head, with a decrease of -7.1% compared with the previous year. Exports from Vietnam
After five years of growth, overseas shipments of duck and goose meat decreased by -16% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 202% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell markedly in the following year.
In value terms, duck and goose meat exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 255%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

China (X tons) was the main destination for duck and goose meat exports from Vietnam, accounting for a approx. 100% share of total exports.

In 2022, the average duck and goose meat export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 3.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to -0.8% per year.

In 2022, approx. X tons of duck and goose meat were imported into Vietnam; growing by 29% compared with 2021. Overall, imports showed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 86% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, duck and goose meat imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 71%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main suppliers of duck and goose meat imports to Vietnam, together comprising 52% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +76.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Korea ($X) constituted the largest supplier of duck and goose meat to Vietnam, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with an 8.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from South Korea totaled +43.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+22.1% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+23.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average duck and goose meat import price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -1.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 78%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sudan (+52.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
